The Divisional Union of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has demanded that Director-General Professor Amin Alhassan temporarily vacate his post as a forensic audit begins into the financial management of the 13th All-African Games. The union cites concerns over investigation integrity and transparency, amid a dispute over a $3.6 million broadcasting contract discrepancy between GBC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“We need to ensure the audit is conducted without any perception of bias,” said union representatives. The Public Services Workers’ Union has backed the call, urging a broader probe into GBC’s operations.
The move follows a massive contradiction between GBC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports over payments made for broadcasting services, with GBC claiming it only received $105,000 of the $3.5 million reportedly paid by the ministry.
