The Ghana Armed Forces, (GAF) Physical Training School has officially opened a 17-week Advance Physical Training Instructors course at Whistler Barracks in Teshie. Commencing on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the program has enrolled a total of 47 participants, including three females, drawn from the Army, Air Force, and Navy. This intensive training is specifically designed to enhance the professional competence of personnel tasked with maintaining the physical readiness of the military.

Delivering an address on behalf of the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Air Commodore Gervase Wienaa, the Assistant Commandant of the Tri-Service Training School, underscored the vital importance of fitness in military operations. He noted that the course has been structured to align with contemporary military standards, providing a comprehensive package that balances theoretical knowledge with rigorous practical exercises.

Air Commodore Wienaa emphasized that physical training serves as a pillar of excellence for the armed forces, requiring instructors to sustain the highest level of proficiency.

The Assistant Commandant further reminded the participants that the profession demands significant sacrifice and devotion, warning that success in the course is not guaranteed without tireless effort. He urged the 47 service members to approach their studies with discipline and a high sense of responsibility, noting that they must be prepared to perform well above the standards expected of an average service person.

The 17-week program aims to equip these future lead instructors with the requisite skills to oversee personnel management and fitness regimens across the various branches of the Ghana Armed Forces.
