The Office of the Ga Mantse has confirmed that His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was involved in a motor accident in the Oti Region on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
According to an official statement signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Sirys J.K. Parker-Allotey, the incident occurred while the King was returning to Accra following an urgent mission. Despite the severity of the situation, the palace reported that there were no casualties recorded among the King or his entourage.
Following the accident, the King and his aides were successfully evacuated to Accra with the prompt assistance of the Ghana Police Service. Upon arrival in the capital, all individuals involved in the crash underwent comprehensive medical examinations and were subsequently discharged in stable condition.
The Office of the Ga Mantse indicated that continuous medical monitoring is currently underway to ensure the full wellbeing of the royal party, and reports suggest that everyone involved is making a steady and satisfactory recovery.
In response to the outpouring of concern from the public, the King has officially directed that his sincere gratitude be extended to the evacuation team, his dedicated aides, and the numerous citizens who offered prayers and well wishes.
The palace further assured the public that, based on the current medical outlook, the King and his staff are expected to resume their normal official duties in the very near future. The statement concludes a period of brief uncertainty following the incident, reaffirming the stability and health of the Ga Traditional Leadership.
