The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has met with Chief Directors and key audit heads from various ministries, departments, and agencies, outlining a clear and decisive path for the immediate implementation of the recommendations contained within the 2024 Audit Report.
The Minister shared his strong concern that persistent waste of national resources sends a deeply negative signal about the nation and risks undermining the peace, stability, and public confidence that the government has worked hard to restore. He stressed that the country “truly deserves better” and that Ghana can no longer afford to lose scarce resources through infractions that are completely avoidable.
Dr. Forson encouraged the assembled team to drive these financial infractions down to the barest minimum. Crucially, he reminded the officials that the government has established specialized courts now ready to prosecute breaches of the nation’s financial laws.
The Minister signaled a “new chapter” in public finance, asserting that accountability will no longer be optional. He concluded by stating that discipline in public financial management is not merely a requirement but a fundamental duty owed to every Ghanaian citizen.
