In a powerful gesture of grassroots leadership and agricultural solidarity, Hon. Dzudzorli Kwame Gakpey, Member of Parliament for the Keta Constituency, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the lifeblood of his community, its farmers.
As part of his ongoing constituency-wide agricultural support initiative, Hon. Gakpey personally oversaw the distribution of fertilizer to hundreds of farmers across seven key farming communities. The breakdown of support was as follows: Asadame received 120 bags, Tsiame 400 bags, Letsifedo & Havene 128 bags, Kporgui 64 bags, Atsiame 54 bags, Doveme 42 bags, and Netsime & Norliwotagbor 56 bags.
“This is not just fertilizer, it’s food security, it’s dignity, it’s a future,” Hon. Gakpey remarked. “Our farmers are the backbone of Keta. When we invest in them, we invest in every household, every child, and every dream rooted in this soil.”
The initiative, which has become a hallmark of his tenure, is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, reducing input costs for local farmers, and reaffirming his pledge to stand with the people who feed the constituency.
The response from the community was immediate and heartfelt. Farmers gathered in gratitude, some with tears in their eyes, others with renewed determination. One elderly farmer in Tsiame, clutching a bag of fertilizer, said, “Akpe na wo, afetor Gakpey” A teacher and farmer by name Kwasigah said .”You have not forgotten us. You have remembered the hands that till the land. May your leadership continue to flourish like our crops.”
Another youth farmer in Havene added, “This is more than politics. This is partnership. We feel seen, we feel supported.”
The distribution effort was not just logistical, it was symbolic. It reminded the people of Keta that leadership is not measured in speeches, but in service. Hon. Gakpey’s presence in the villages, his direct engagement with farmers, and his hands-on approach have reignited hope in communities often overlooked.
As the planting season approaches, the fertilizer donation is expected to significantly improve yields, stabilize food supply, and empower local economies. It also sets a precedent for what responsive, humane governance can look like in rural Ghana.
In the words of one community elder: “He didn’t send a truck. He came himself. That is the kind of leadership our children should learn from.”
With this initiative, Hon. Dzudzorli Kwame Gakpey has not only nourished the soil, he has nourished the spirit of Keta.
Yes, I was there to witness it as clear evidence
