After one year and four months away, Sister Emma Dennis walked back into the Ghanaian Community Church of Chicago clothed in radiant white, surrounded by family and friends who had prayed with her throughout the darkest stretch of her life. Everyone of her family and friends were equally dressed in pure white in a unified symbol of support, gratitude, victory, and the new beginning they believed God had granted her. She came not in sorrow, but in strength, to thank the Lord for His faithfulness and to publicly acknowledge the God who, in her words, “did not forsake me in my time of need.”

Standing before the congregation, her voice steady with emotion, she declared, “I am here to say we have a God. I went through challenges, but the Lord was with me.” Her testimony carried the weight of months of treatment marked by complications, fear, and long nights of uncertainty. Yet she stood, whole, grateful, and determined to give glory where she believed it was due.

Sister Emma offered heartfelt thanks to the resident pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Betson, and his wife, Jemimah Betson, whose calls and prayers became a lifeline during her illness and recovery. She extended her appreciation to the church president, Evelyn Tetteh, along with her sons, Charles and Andrew, for their unwavering support and constant presence.

Her gratitude reached further still, to Sisters Rosemary Amegashie, Kate Annang, Grace Asante, Betty Agyeman, Peace Darko, Susan Bamfo , the church executives, elders, and every member who lifted her name in prayer when she could not lift herself.

In a moment of pure praise, she summed up her journey with a simple, triumphant declaration: “The Lord promised to do it, and He has done it.”

A testimony of survival. A return wrapped in white. A reminder to the congregation that faith, community, and persistent prayer still move mountains.
