The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially announced a specific date for the rerun of the Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency. This crucial electoral process is now slated to take place on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025. The Commission’s decision is in direct compliance with a recent directive issued by the Tamale High Court. The court, in its ruling delivered on Monday, 24th November, 2025, mandated that the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election be rerun within a period of thirty days.
This schedule was finalized after the EC received formal communication regarding the vacancy of the parliamentary seat. A letter from the Clerk to Parliament, dated Tuesday, 9th December, 2025, officially notified the Commission about the vacancy in the Membership of Parliament for the Kpandai Constituency. This formal notification was a necessary procedural step before the EC could proceed with arranging the by-election. The confirmation of the vacancy effectively cleared the way for the Commission to prepare and announce the timetable for the new poll.

Significantly, the impending rerun election will not be open to new contestants. The Electoral Commission stated that the process will be limited solely to the three candidates who originally contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency. This ensures that the rerun serves as a resolution to the contested outcome of the previous poll, maintaining the original field of contenders.
The announcement was formalized by Mr. Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director for the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department, ensuring the public is properly informed of the upcoming electoral activity.
