The day opened with a full slate of athletics and field events, including shot put, javelin, discus, and high jump. Despite a four‑hour delay that disrupted the original schedule and pushed several events into later sessions, the competition remained fierce. Host schools ANSECO and ZICO showed impressive form, qualifying for multiple finals and signaling their intent to dominate on home soil.

Long‑distance fans were treated to a thrilling 5000m showdown, where KETABUSCO claimed gold in the boys’ division while ABORSCO powered to victory in the girls’ race. In the high jump, KETABUSCO continued their strong showing by taking gold, with KETASCO securing silver in a closely contested battle.

On the track, the sprints produced the day’s biggest headlines. Zion College’s Bright Matsiador electrified the crowd with victories in both the 100m and 200m boys’ races. Now in his second year, Bright defended his 100m title with authority, crediting his success to disciplined training and strict adherence to his coaches’ guidance. He has also appealed to benefactors and scouts for support to help him access advanced training and unlock his full potential.

In the girls’ 100m, KETABUSCO’s Letsah Beatrice delivered a commanding performance to clinch gold. Her rise has been steady and impressive , second place at last year’s inter‑schools, followed by gold at the inter‑zones, and now the top spot once again in 2026.

The relays added their own drama and excitement. KETABUSCO’s girls’ 4x100m team sprinted to a confident victory, while the boys’ 4x100m was dominated by KETASCO, whose flawless baton exchanges and explosive speed thrilled spectators.

ANSECO capped the day with a statement performance in the 400m, sweeping both gold and silver. Their athletes displayed tactical brilliance and strong finishing power, reinforcing the hosts’ determination to leave a mark on this year’s tournament.
