Council of Ghanaian Churches: CGC TREASURER ELDER STEPHEN SOMUAH PASSES AWAY
The Council of Ghanaian Churches (CGC) announces with deep sorrow the passing into eternity of Elder Stephen Somuah, CGC’s Treasurer. He was an Elder of the African Community United Methodist Church. Eld. Somuah died today at the Weiss Hospital in Chicago, after a protracted illness.
The CGC extends its heartfelt condolences to his wife and the bereaved family at their sad loss.
Announcing Elder Somuah’s death, CGC President Rev. Dr. Kofi- Noonoo paid tribute to him for the major role he played in the affairs of the council. He initiated and implemented financial structures to put the council on a sound financial footing.
He was actively involved in introducing new CGC’s By-laws to streamline the operations of the organization.
Eld. Somuah would also be remembered for providing space for council meetings.
His passing is deeply felt, but he is no longer in pain. We are comforted by the Scriptures that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We believe that he is in the Lord’s bosom and that on the Day of the Resurrection he would be reunited with loved ones.
May He rest in perfect peace
Fare thee well, worthy brother!
(ISSUED BY THE SECRETARIAT OF THE CGC)
Dr. Min. Nicholas O. Thompson
Secretary
Reverend Dzifanu Agbenya, Living Comfort Ministries:
Heaven has welcomed a Warrior while we mourn a comrade over our loss here on earth. Indeed, a vacuum has been created in the family of our departed brother, the CGC, and the Ghana community in Chicago at large. Having said this, we will not be discouraged but rather be strengthened in our spirit for our hope in the resurrection of the saints where and when we will meet again. Mr. SOMUAH will be greatly missed by us but his sweet and constructive memories live on. Our deepest condolences to the family. Peace I pray for us all. Amen
Longtime friend, former GNC member, and President of the Ghana Chicago Club, Mr. A.C. Eddie-Quartey
