The Ghanaian community in Chicago has been struck by tragedy once again following the sudden death of Mercy Ama Afrah Atakorah, who passed away on February 18th at the age of 48.
Mercy was the beloved daughter of Nana and Mrs. Atakorah Amaniampong, a wife to Akwasi Gambrah, and a devoted mother of three children.
According to information gathered by SankofaOnline, Mercy reportedly began experiencing shortness of breath while attending a school sports program with her children. She was taken to the hospital shortly afterward, where her condition worsened. Despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
Her unexpected passing has sent shockwaves through the Ghanaian community, leaving family, friends, and acquaintances in deep sorrow. Mercy was known for her warmth, dedication to her family, and active presence within the community.
