The future of any community lies in its youth, and this sentiment was at the heart of a spirited celebration hosted by the Ghanaian community Church of Chicago. This year’s annual Back to School and Youth Day was a vibrant and uplifting occasion, dedicated to recognizing and inspiring the younger members of the congregation.
The highlight of the day was a stirring sermon delivered by Reverend Dr. William Attah, a visiting Pastor from Ghana. Centered on the theme “God Speaking for Us.” His message drew from a powerful biblical narrative the story of daughters who after the death of their father, were denied inheritance due to prevailing customs. Reverend Attah emphasized their boldness in challenging injustice, which led to divine intervention and a reversal of their fate.
“Their courage to stand up for what was right changed everything,” Reverend Attah proclaimed, urging the youth to find their voice, trust in their faith, and believe in their worth.
Following the sermon, each young attendee was honored with a monetary gift, accompanied by heartfelt encouragement to pursue their education with diligence and determination. The gesture underscored the church’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and personal growth among its youth.
The Betson kids entertained the audience with a captivating performance.
The celebration concluded with a communal feast featuring a rich spread of traditional Ghanaian cuisine, a joyful moment of fellowship that brought generations together in unity and pride.
