The crash happened late Monday morning along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near Makun in Ogun State. Joshua, 36, was seated in the rear of a Lexus SUV when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into a parked truck on the shoulder of the road.
Investigators say early assessments suggest that speeding and an unsuccessful attempt to overtake another vehicle may have triggered the collision.
Joshua was treated for minor injuries and transported to a medical facility for further checks. Authorities noted that although he was physically stable, he appeared deeply shaken by the ordeal.
Sadly, two passengers died instantly, and their remains were taken to a morgue in Sagamu. Another individual in the vehicle survived but was reportedly severely injured.
The accident occurred only days after Joshua’s widely publicized win over Jake Paul in Miami . That fight once again placed him at the center of global sports attention.
Nigerian officials have opened a comprehensive investigation into the crash. The Federal Road Safety Corps reiterated that speeding and dangerous overtaking continue to be major contributors to fatal accidents on the nation’s highways.
As news of Joshua’s survival spreads, supporters worldwide are expressing relief, while condolences continue to flow for the families of the two victims who lost their lives.
