Accra, Ghana — The Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail to Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awity Bafoh, who was recently arrested in connection with investigations into the social media account known as “Ghana Jollof.”
The court set bail at GH¢100,000 with two sureties, both of whom must be civil servants earning a minimum monthly salary of GH¢3,000.
Ms. Bafoh is alleged to have been involved with the controversial social media platform, although details of the charges and the scope of the investigation were not extensively discussed during the proceedings.
Following the court’s decision, her lawyer welcomed the grant of bail and expressed confidence that the conditions would be met promptly.
“We will post the bail as ordered by the court so that she can return home to her children while the legal process continues,” the lawyer stated.
The case has attracted public attention amid ongoing discussions surrounding online activity, freedom of expression, and the legal responsibilities associated with social media platforms.
Ms. Bafoh is expected to comply with the bail conditions and appear before the court as investigations and legal proceedings continue. Authorities have not yet announced a date for the next hearing.
