The Bank of Ghana and the British High Commission partnered on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, to host the inaugural London-to-Accra Economic Growth Summit, a strategic forum designed to pioneer new pathways for sustainable development. The event convened a high-level assembly of policymakers and private sector leaders, including Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama, First Deputy Governor Dr. Zakari Mumuni, Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, and British High Commissioner to Ghana Dr. Christian Rogg.
Addressing the delegates, Governor Asiama reaffirmed the central bank’s dedication to maintaining financial stability while fostering an environment conducive to long-term economic expansion. He emphasized that the summit serves as a critical platform to deepen structured dialogue between the Ghanaian diaspora and domestic policymakers, aiming to unlock transformative investment opportunities through shared expertise and capital.
To further this agenda, the Governor announced that the Bank of Ghana will collaborate with the Ministry of Finance to roll out a National Remittance Strategy later this year. This initiative will be complemented by a continent-wide Remittance Roadshow intended to enhance diaspora engagement and streamline capital flows, ensuring that the contributions of Ghanaians abroad are effectively integrated into the national development framework.
