Nigel Gaisie extorts money from innocent rich women – Kennedy Agyapong

It looks like the brouhaha going on between Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong and Nigel Gaisie, head of Prophetic Hill Chapel will not end any time soon, as the member of parliament has made more revelations on how the man of God tricks women and dupes them of their money

According to the member of parliament, Nigel Gaisie, unlike Obimin, preys on women who have money, gets close to them and dupes them, after which he leaves them high and dry.

According to the Assin Central MP who was speaking in an interview on Atinka TV monitored by Ghanaweb, Nigel Giaisie has CCTV cameras at his church which he monitors in his office.

And whiles there, he looks out for especially women who come in with classy and expensive cars, he then zooms in on their car number and uses it to prophesy to these women, gets close to them and takes advantage of them to enrich himself.

“The difference between Obinim and Nigel Gaisie, those two are the same but the difference is that Obinim takes care of his women, whiles Nigel extorts money from them. He has CCTV cameras which he monitors in his office, so he sees men and women who come to his church and the cars they come with. Then he cunningly zooms in on the number plate of the classier and expensive cars, gets the car numbers and uses it to prophesy, sending the owners into panic mode, thereby taking advantage to take money from them,” he said on the show.

The Lawmaker said what even annoys him is the fact that after all the people Nigel Gaisie has duped to enrich himself, his mother is a poor woman who sells plantain and cassava just to get by. He said he did not understand why he wouldn’t use some of the money he has acquired for himself even though through foul means to better the life of his mother.

“His mother humbly sells cassava and plantain to keep up with life. They are eight children in the family and Nigel is the last. Because he doesn’t reason, a poor woman’s son who has made money through foul means you would have at least taken good care of your mother but no. You are even not shy that your mother even sells cassava. You will see what I will do to you,” he said.

Claims of data breaches completely false – NCA

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has described as misleading claims of a breach of privacy of consumer information.

A statement issued by the NCA “these claims are completely false.”

The response from the NCA comes after a private legal practitioner, Mr. Francis Kwarteng Arthur, petitioned Vodafone Ghana’s mother company, the Vodafone Group UK over allegations of privacy right violations.

He further went to court over the matter and went ahead to file a lawsuit by dragging the President, the National Communication Authority, Kelni GVG, Vodafone Ghana and MTN to court over allegations of privacy right violations.

Vodafone has however denied these allegations assuring customers their data are protected and that there has been no breach as alleged.

Misleading Consumer Privacy Breach Claims

Accra, 19th June, 2020: The attention of the National Communications Authority (NCA) has been drawn to some reports on social and some mainstream media claiming a breach of privacy of consumer information. These claims are completely false.

Here are the facts: In March, 2020, the NCA requested “passive mobile positioning data logs” from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). This allows the NCA to gather location information to assist the Ghana Health Service to map Covid19 hotspots by undertaking historical and current analysis of persons potentially infected with COVID-19 for contact tracing purposes. It is “passive” and “historical” because it is not live real-time tracking.

This is in accordance with the Establishment of Emergency Communications Systems Instrument, 2020 (E.I. 63). The Instrument required network operators or service providers to cooperate with the NCA Common Platform to provide information to State agencies in the event of a public health emergency.

The relevant sections of the law state as follows:

(1) “A network operator or service provider shall cooperate with the National Communications Authority Common Platform to provide information to State agencies in the case of an emergency, including a public health emergency.

(3) A network operator or service provider shall ensure location log files are provided to National Communications Common Platform to facilitate location-based tracking”

All MNOs i.e. AirtelTigo, Glo, MTN and Vodafone, complied with the request for information which was subsequently processed and forwarded to the Ghana Health Service for purpose as stated. There was no objection by any Party in respect of COVID-19 contact tracing data request until an application for injunction order was filed in the courts on (date). The court is expected to decide on the injunction application on June 23.

The NCA would like to assure consumers and the general public that there has been no breach of personal data and privacy in the compliance by MNOs or the MCA to the requirements of law.

Return bicycles or be sacked – John Boadu to defeated aspirant

The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, John Boadu has issued a stern warning to Eric Amankwa Blay, an aspirant in the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primaries at Assin North constituency to return bicycles he seized from delegates after losing the election or be dismissed from the Party.

Eric Amankwa Blay gifted 250 bicycles to delegates prior to the election in the constituency ostensibly to influence the delegates to vote for him.

However, he secured 44 votes as against the incumbent MP Abena Duruwa Mensah who polled 389 votes.

Utterly disappointed Amankwa Blay together with some of his supporters stormed homes of the beneficiary delegates with Kia Truck to forcibly retrieve the bicycles from them.

Speaking on Accra based Atinka FM Monday, the General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu described the action of the aspirant as “uncouth” which the party will not tolerate hence ordered him to return the bicycles immediately or risk losing his membership from the party.

“He wants to be exited from the party. Next time he can’t even apply and even attempt to contest in any internal election. Nobody forced him to gift bicycles. Was he expecting everybody to vote for him because of the bicycles, doesn’t it mean if next time someone shares Cars he must be voted for? That is not a democracy”.

He added “he should return the bicycles else he has sacked himself from the party. I am speaking on authority. The party will not recognize him anymore. He is done with the party. We can’t encourage such uncouth behaviour in our party” John Boadu warned.

The just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the NPP has been criticized over widespread vote-buying.

A Political scientist and former lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr Amoako Baah has said the majority of the outcome of the Saturday primaries was influenced by money and not competence or ability to impact good governance in the country.

Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Monday, Dr Amoako Baah said money has compromised the value of elections in the country.

“What we are doing is an auction, not an election because the highest bidder wins, as I have been saying, whoever pays the highest money wins. But in some cases if the people are really angry with you it does not matter how much money you pay, they will still vote against you,” he said.

GRA endorses ICUMS for helping to meet revenue targets

The Ghana Revenue Authority has refuted claims that since introduction of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), the state has lost revenue. Rather, the authority has had its revenue projections on target even with the teething problems that greeted the start of the system on June 1, 2020.

Commissioner General of the GRA, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, observed that the first 17 days of operations raked in some GH¢490million; and the Authority is projecting a billion Ghana cedis revenue by end of the month.

The Commissioner General, addressing the media last week, was specific that the authority will not be losing revenue as is being highlighted by some sections of society. GRA, he indicated, is putting in all efforts to address all the challenges that are being recorded to ensure efficiency of the system.

All said and done, it is heartening that the GRA has set up a call-centre to receive and address all challenges faced by stakeholders. Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah said most of the initial problems are being fixed to allow for seamless operations.

The assurance should douse the doubts that importers/exporters and freight forwarders have expressed over time. Assurances coming from the horse’s own mouth should send the right signals that ICUMS is not hindering operations at the country’s ports, but is rather enhancing efficiency and raking in revenue for the state.

Owusu-Amoah also stated that ICUMS has successfully processed about 53,000 Bills of Entry nationwide.

On demurrage charges, the Acting Commissioner-General said the GRA and Ministry of Trade are engaging relevant stakeholders to see what can be done for cases related to initial challenges in the system.

A prominent financial analyst, the CEO of Dalex Finance Mr. Ken Thompson, believes the Integrated Customs Management Systems (ICUMS) is a good system because it enhances e-governance. He however stated that the way it is being implemented is what’s causing the challenges for stakeholders.

The issue with locked-up pharmaceutical products meant to deal with COVID-19 at the ports because of ICUMS has to be resolved, so that the drugs do not expire and incur extra cost to the state. It is also timely that the GRA Commissioner General has cleared the air about the operations of ICUMS, and this should assuage a lot of fears.

Atletico Madrid finally accept Thomas Partey departure – Report

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are reported to have accepted that Thomas Partey will leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Elite European clubs are interested in the Ghana midfielder, but Arsenal currently look to be in the strongest position to snap him up for his €50million release clause.

The Gunners urgently need a new midfielder of this type after a hugely disappointing season, which continued as the Premier League returned this week.

Mikel Arteta’s side were swept aside by Manchester City in a 3-0 defeat, which could easily have been more for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal are now highly unlikely to qualify for Europe next season, and it’s clear Arteta needs backing in the transfer market.

€50m could end up being a bargain for a player like Partey, who has shone for Atletico in La Liga and the Champions League, looking a major upgrade on the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka in Arsenal’s midfield.

Reports indicate that Diego Simeone’s side have now accepted that the time has come for the midfielder to leave the club.

Partey has made 30 starts and three substitute outings in La Liga and the Champions League during the 2019-20 campaign.
