His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, departed the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi for the United States ahead of the upcoming Akwasidae Kɛse, a landmark cultural gathering that is expected to unite Asantes and friends of Asanteman from across the diaspora. The departure ceremony, dignified and steeped in tradition, drew a distinguished assembly of chiefs, government officials, and members of the Regional Security Council, all present to offer prayers and well‑wishes as the King embarked on this significant international engagement.

Present at the airport were Nsuase Poku III, Akyeamehene, Kyeame Jachie Amoateng, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, Asante Mamponghene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, and Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi. Their collective presence symbolized unity, reverence, and the enduring strength of Asanteman’s cultural heritage.

Otumfuo’s visit will culminate in a historic Akwasidae Kɛse celebration at Bowie State University in Maryland on August 30, 2026, under the theme, “A Legacy of Unity, a Future of Excellence.” This event, unprecedented in scale within the diaspora, will showcase the richness of Asante tradition, customs, culture, and heritage. Attendees will witness royal processions, traditional drumming and dancing, cultural performances, and ceremonial observances that highlight the living legacy of the Golden Stool.

Sankofaonline extends a warm and formal invitation to all Asantes in the United States and Canada, Ghanaian communities across North America, cultural organizations, scholars, students, and friends of Asanteman. This is a rare opportunity to engage directly with the traditions of the Asante Kingdom, to honor ancestral heritage, and to stand in unity with the custodian of the Golden Stool.

The upcoming Akwasidae Kɛse is not merely an event, it is a call to identity, a celebration of heritage, and a moment for Asanteman to reaffirm its global presence. All are encouraged to attend, participate, and support this historic cultural gathering.
