Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has officially commissioned two smart classroom projects aimed at enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education within his constituency.
The initiative was made possible through a strategic partnership between the lawmaker and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa. These modern learning hubs have been established at Battor Senior High School (BASEC) and Aveyime-Battor Senior High Technical School (ABAST) to serve as the first phase of the project.
The newly commissioned facilities are equipped with full internet connectivity, interactive smart boards, and individual tablets loaded with specialized educational content to provide students with a hands-on digital learning experience. To ensure the sustainability of the technology and provide a consistent power supply, the classrooms are also fitted with solar panels.
Under the terms of the collaboration, the Chinese partners provided the essential STEM equipment and solar infrastructure, while the Member of Parliament funded the required physical building infrastructure. During the ceremony, Ablakwa expressed deep gratitude to Ambassador Tong Defa for the impactful partnership, noting that the project represents a significant step forward in his “North Tongu Rising” agenda to modernize education and equip students with 21st-century skills.
