Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has been elected as the Chairperson of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture. Her election, which carries a two-year term, took place following a unanimous endorsement by delegates from across the continent.
According to Mr. Adongo, the Minister’s election occurred despite her absence from the proceedings, as delegates cited her extensive contributions to culture, film, youth development, and governance as the primary reasons for their support.
The endorsement was accompanied by widespread praise for her previous work in these sectors. In a statement following the announcement, the Minister expressed her gratitude for the confidence shown in her leadership and reaffirmed her dedication to advancing continental policies designed to empower African youth and promote the growth of sports and culture throughout the region.
