Chicago, December 31, 2023, & January 1, 2024: When your birthday falls on January 1, and you have staunch support from family and friends who are ready to party anytime, all you need is a venue, music, food, and drinks. Abena Agyeman-Bugyei ensures these are ready for her family and friends every January 1 when she celebrates her adored birthday. Like previous years, the celebrant ensured attendees got enough to eat and drink on her golden birthday, which is worthy of a festive jubilee. The pre-birthday celebrations occurred at the Presbyterian Church, Redemption Congregation Chicago, and the D-day celebrations at her family house the following day. Both events were the best yet after “the best yet” last year.
The glitz and glamour of Abena Asantewaa Krobea Agyeman-Bugyei’s 50th birthday celebration at the Church was a sight to behold. Filled with gratitude, Abena Asantewaa Krobea Agyeman-Bugyei chose to first celebrate and express her thanks to the Almighty Lord for the grace and mercies that guided her through the past 50 years at the Church. One of the most remarkable aspects of the celebrations in the Church was how fashionable the guests looked in the 50th Birthday cloth specially printed by the celebrant for the occasion. It was simple yet classy. The men mostly donned tailored long-sleeve shirts. The women looked stunning in elegant dresses. It displayed style and sophistication, as everyone looked dashing put together. The celebrant looked dapper in her outfit, looking more of a teenager than a 50-year-old. She was gorgeous, her makeup was classily angelic, her dress was exquisite, and her dance moves were algorithmically beautiful as she danced with family and friends, expressing thanksgiving to God. There was a special red carpet moment where almost every attendee had a photo shoot with the celebrant, and to top it all, everyone had something to take home to eat and drink.
Ironically, and as noted by the Resident Paster, Dr. Nana Yaw Amponsah Antwi, the theme for all Ghanaian Presbyterian Churches that day, PRAISE THE LORD, fit the occasion perfectly. He explained that Praise is an expression of approval, admiration, or respect that ends up in the worship of an entity. He continued, saying, “However, as humans as we are, we praise personalities other than the Creator of the Universe. We are therefore urged to channel our praises and thanks to our Lord God Almighty, who continually sustains, provides, protects, promotes, and carries us all in every way”.
The celebrations continued the following day, with all attendees given specially made white T-shirts and keychains with thankful and joyful words printed on the front and back. Highlights include video clips from family and friends extolling the virtues and noble deeds of the celebrant. Also, when Abena doggedly but hilariously tried to frustrate her husband, Ernest Bugyei, from feeding her with the proverbial cake and many others.
The Party could only be described through testimonies, positive gestures, and kudos from guests because no amount of adjectives can define its success. It was an unforgettable evening as the revelers enjoyed every bit of both days.
Abena Asantewaa Krobea Agyeman-Bugyei’s 50th birthday party was a true success and one of a kind the Ghanaian community has not seen for a long time. Both events’ beauty, joy, and admiration translated into record-breaking hits for hundreds of photos posted on Facebook per comments, likes, tags, etc.
