The Chiefs and people of Wechiau in the Wa West constituency of the Upper West Region have thrown their weight behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 elections. According to the Paramount Chief of Wechiau, Naa Imoru Nandon Gomah II, the NPP has been good to Wechiau, and it is time to reward the party with their votes.

Speaking during a visit by Dr. Bawumia to his palace on Monday, July 22, 2024, Naa Gomah II outlined the numerous developmental projects the area has benefited from under the NPP government, including the creation of the Wa West District in 2004, the Agenda 111 hospital project, dams and dugouts under One Village One Dam, roads, Free Senior High School programme, and School Feeding programme.

The Paramount Chief praised Dr. Bawumia for his respect for traditional institutions and assured him of their support in the elections. “As Chiefs, we can assure you of our support to enable you continue the good works of the New Patriotic Party Government after 7th December, 2024. We wish you God’s blessings and protection,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia thanked the Chiefs for their support and urged the people of the Wa West Constituency to give him and the NPP the opportunity to build upon the gains made so far. He outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, which includes training children for the future and equipping youth with skills to create jobs and compete favourably with their contemporaries across the world.
