Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a heartfelt address at the unveiling ceremony, in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 10, 2024, showered praise on his chosen running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known as Napo. Dr. Bawumia described Napo as a “problem solver and a generational thinker,” attributes that complement his own skills and vision.
Dr. Bawumia revealed that he sought a partner with legislative experience to balance his banking background and found Napo in the Ashanti region. He expressed confidence in Napo’s abilities, hoping their partnership would help the party achieve its goal of “breaking the 8.”
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, also endorsed Napo, dismissing rumors of arrogance and instead urging him to remain humble and compatible with Bawumia. The royal endorsement and Bawumia’s praise underscored Napo’s potential to bring valuable insights and problem-solving skills to the ticket.
As the NPP looks to the general election, the Bawumia-Napo duo appears poised to leverage their strengths and work together towards a shared vision for Ghana’s progress.
