Volta Region Unveils Tourism Potential in Ministerial Tour

HO, Volta Region – The Volta Region recently rolled out the red carpet for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, as sector Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, led a crucial three-day working tour from May 23rd, 2025. The visit, aimed at immersing the Ministry in the region’s rich cultural tapestry and diverse tourist attractions, signals a renewed focus on bolstering tourism development in this historically significant part of Ghana.


Exploring Iconic Destinations
The extensive itinerary showcased some of the Volta Region’s most celebrated sites. The delegation explored the unique offerings of the Praise City Eco Park & Resort, colloquially known as “Point & Kill,” a popular local destination. They also ventured into the ecological marvel of the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary & Cultural Village, known for its revered monkey population and vibrant community life.


A highlight of the tour was the breathtaking Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls, West Africa’s tallest waterfall, a testament to the region’s stunning natural beauty. The team further delved into the region’s history and heritage at the Volta Regional Museum and engaged with staff at the National Centre for Culture (NCC), reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to cultural preservation and promotion.


Fostering Regional Collaboration
Beyond site visits, the tour emphasized strategic partnerships. Minister Gomashie and her delegation paid courtesy calls on key regional leaders, including HRM Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, where they were warmly received by Queen Mother, Mamaga Akua-dei II. Discussions centered on fostering greater collaboration for tourism development and cultural exchange within the region. A similar visit was made to the Volta Regional Minister, further solidifying inter-governmental efforts.


The Ministry’s focused engagement in the Volta Region underscores its dedication to unlocking Ghana’s full tourism potential and celebrating its vibrant cultural heritage.
