Accra, Ghana – Virgin Atlantic is set to relaunch its services between Accra and London Heathrow, marking its return to Ghana after a 12-year hiatus. The daily flights, commencing on May 1, 2025, will provide much-needed competition and choice on the route, catering to the growing demand for travel between Ghana and the UK.
The new service aims to connect friends, relatives, and businesses, leveraging the UK’s status as home to the third-largest Ghanaian diaspora globally. Passengers will also benefit from connections through London to Virgin Atlantic’s extensive US route network.
Juha Jarvinen, the Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, made the announcement and provided a statement regarding the airline’s return to Ghana.
The flights will operate on a mix of Airbus A330-300 and A330-900neo aircraft, featuring Virgin Atlantic’s signature cabins and onboard social space. The route is also expected to be a strong cargo corridor, with the airline offering 30 tonnes of capacity per flight.
Virgin Atlantic’s return to Ghana marks a significant milestone for the airline, which was founded by Sir Richard Branson in 1984. The airline is renowned for its innovation, exceptional customer service, and award-winning experience.
