Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang today inaugurated the Entrance University of Health Sciences, a new institution featuring Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing, alongside an integrated Dental Hospital.
During the ceremony, Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the critical need to expand training opportunities for health professionals to bolster Ghana’s healthcare delivery system. She highlighted the university’s strategic importance in improving healthcare access and encouraged further private sector involvement in similar initiatives that link education with national development.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh praised the university as a vital step in addressing Ghana’s pressing healthcare challenges, particularly the shortages in medical, nursing, and dental services. He commended Nana Samuel Amo Tobbin, the university’s Founder and Chancellor, for his “bold and patriotic investment,” recognizing the private sector’s crucial role in national development.
Nana Samuel Amo Tobbin articulated the university’s mission to cultivate a new generation of healthcare professionals grounded in academic excellence and moral integrity. He pledged ongoing investment in infrastructure and academic quality, emphasizing innovation and discipline in training future healthcare workers. The Minister specifically lauded the inclusion of the integrated Dental Hospital, acknowledging its role in elevating oral health within professional education and service delivery.
