The United States government has donated 14 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Armored Personnel Carriers to the Ghana Armed Forces. The vehicles were handed over to the Ghana Armed Forces at a ceremony held at the 153 Armored Regiment in Burma Camp.

US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, emphasized the importance of securing Ghana’s northern border amid evolving security challenges in the region. She reaffirmed the US’ commitment to supporting Ghana’s defense capabilities through partnerships and capacity-building initiatives.

Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, expressed gratitude to the US government and citizens for the donation, which aims to enhance the Ghana Armed Forces’ operational readiness and effectiveness in counter-terrorism, peace enforcement, and disaster recovery efforts. The donated vehicles will also support efforts to combat illegal mining.
