Ursula Owusu’s Reckoning: A Close Examination of Her Stewardship
By Fuvi Kloku
In the bustling streets of the Nation’s capital, Accra, whispers of Ursula Owusu, the Minister for Communications of Ghana, began to circulate. Known for her sharp unyielding resolve, Ursula had risen to prominence in the country’s political and technological circles. However, recent events had cast a shadow over her reputation, prompting an investigation into her dealings.

A young journalist named Selorm Branttie decided to delve into the rumors. Armed with a keen sense of curiosity and a determination to uncover the truth, Selorm set out to gather information. He stumbled upon a series of transactions that raised more questions than answers.
Selorm’s investigation led him to a series of enigmatic records:
- SIM Re-Registration Details: Large sums had been paid to a company tasked with re-registering SIM cards. The funds exchanged hands with little transparency, leaving many to wonder where the money had truly gone.
- Biometric Data Handling: Ursula had collected vast amounts of biometric data from the citizens. Yet, the fate of this data remained shrouded in mystery. Who had access to it, and what was its ultimate purpose?
- 5G Activity Audit: Numerous companies and intermediaries were involved in the rollout of 5G technology. Selorm discovered that an audit had been conducted, but the results were concealed from the public eye. What secrets were being kept?
- KelniGVG Tax Payments: KelniGVG, a major player in the telecom industry, had been operating with questionable financial practices. Selorm sought clarity on the taxes paid and whether the investments truly delivered value for money.
- Vokacom and GhanaPost GPS App: Vokacom’s involvement with the GhanaPost GPS app also came under scrutiny. Selorm wondered about the true nature of their dealings and the benefits, if any, that had been realized.
Selorm’s questions culminated in a detailed letter addressed to Ursula Owusu:
Dear Ursula Owusu,
In addition to my brother Franklin Cudjoe’s missive, I humbly ask you to prepare all records you have in relation to the following for our perusal:
- SIM re-registration details and monies paid to the company that did it.
- What you did with the “biometric” data you collected and the chain of custody of that data.
- An audit of all companies and intermediaries that were part of the 5G activity.
- How much tax KelniGVG paid for all their activity and a clear value for money report of the investment.
- All dealings of Vokacom with relation to the GhanaPost GPS app.
A list of all procurements you signed off and all the procurement data.
It will be advisable to retain some legal counsel because you will have to answer a lot of questions. Luckily there’s no clearing agent in charge now.
Ghana needs some ORAL hygiene, and your submissions will help in that regard.
Best regards,
Selorm Branttie
As Selorm sent off his letter, the citizens of Ghana held their breath. They yearned for transparency and accountability, and many believed that Ursula’s response would reveal the true nature of the transactions that had long been cloaked in secrecy. The state awaited, eager to see the mysteries unravel and justice served.
