ATEBUBU — An anti-robbery operation by the Ghana Police Service in Atebubu, Bono East region, resulted in the deaths of two suspects following a shootout on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
According to preliminary investigations, a police patrol team encountered a robbery in progress on a highway in Atebubu.
The suspects opened fire on the officers upon seeing them. The police returned fire, fatally wounding two of the suspects. They were taken to a hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival. The remaining suspects escaped into a nearby bush.
A search of the scene led to the retrieval of a short gun loaded with two live cartridges, four spent cartridges, and a machete. The police are continuing their efforts to locate and arrest the remaining members of the gang.
