The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has successfully arrested two individuals, Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, in connection with a violent crime involving robbery, murder, and attempted murder that took place at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The incident began when a complainant returned home to find both his tricycle, known locally as an Aboboyaa, and his two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15, missing.
Preliminary police findings indicate that suspect Sani Abacha planned the robbery and lured the two housekeepers by falsely promising to use the tricycle to transport firewood from his farm. Once in a nearby bush, Abacha allegedly attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicting severe wounds before escaping with the tricycle. He then contacted Asante Eric, and the pair subsequently sold the stolen tricycle to a third individual identified as Balawe, who remains at large. The following morning, a resident discovered Kwabena Yankyira unconscious in a cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery with deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear; he was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital for treatment. Shortly after, the body of Kwabena Boateng, bearing similar injuries, was also found nearby.
Following an intensive intelligence-led operation, Sani Abacha was apprehended on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu, and subsequently led officers to the location of Asante Eric at Aboabogya. Both suspects have confessed to their roles in the crime. They were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, facing provisional charges of robbery and murder, and have been remanded into prison custody until their next court date on November 25, 2025. Police efforts are now focused on locating the third suspect and recovering the stolen tricycle, as the Command remains committed to tackling violent crime in the region.
