The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, held a series of high-level meetings with key international partners, including the British High Commissioner, the EU Ambassador, and the UNIDO Country Coordinator, all aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, industrialisation, and private-sector growth. The engagements underscored Ghana’s renewed drive to strengthen global economic partnerships.

In his introductory visit, EU Ambassador Mr. Rune Skinnebach outlined the European Union’s renewed focus on interest-driven partnerships centered on investment and value addition. He highlighted the EU’s massive €150 billion Global Gateway investment package for Africa, urging Ghana to position itself competitively to attract this financing for high-impact projects. Minister Ofosu-Adjare commended the EU’s role as Ghana’s largest export market and investor, and detailed her recent intervention with the Bank of Ghana to extend export proceeds repatriation timelines from 60 to 120 days to better support industry. Both sides agreed to intensify engagements to unlock new investment opportunities.

Concurrently, British High Commissioner Dr. Christian Rogg held discussions focused on unlocking more UK investments, improving SME financing, and reviewing the UK–Ghana Trade Partnership Agreement. The Minister stressed the urgent need for grant support and accessible capital for micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), noting that the lack of funding limits their growth despite extensive training. Dr. Rogg highlighted ongoing support from British International Investment (BII) and proposed formalizing economic cooperation under a structured “Growth Partnership.” Separately, UNIDO Country Coordinator Mr. Eric Gyenin confirmed the agency’s readiness to provide technical expertise and global partnership facilitation to advance Ghana’s industrialisation agenda, specifically regarding the Minister’s proposal to develop a large 500–1,000 acre industrial park.
