The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has experienced a significant increase in revenue since introducing a shift system at its loading gantry, despite not operating at full capacity for several years. The refinery continues to offer fuel liftings and storage services for Bulk Oil Distributors, BDCs, and Oil Marketing Companies, OMCs.

TOR’s Managing Director, Dr. Yussif Sulemana, revealed at the Energy News Africa Anniversary Public Lecture that only 40 out of 59 storage tanks are currently in good condition. He stated that if all tanks were operational, the refinery could generate up to $3 million in revenue.

Dr. Sulemana noted that efforts are underway to comprehensively retool TOR’s infrastructure, enabling the facility to increase revenue while awaiting investments to make the refinery fully operational. This development comes as part of Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, aimed at boosting economic growth and development.
