Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has issued a stern warning to the Black Stars players, urging them to rediscover their passion and desire to represent the nation. With Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification hopes hanging in the balance, Okraku expressed his disappointment with the team’s recent poor performances.

The Black Stars’ campaign got off to a dismal start with a home loss to Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger, leaving them with just one point from a possible six. Currently third in Group F, Ghana desperately needs to improve to secure a spot in next year’s tournament in Morocco.

Okraku addressed the players on October 8, emphasizing the need for pride and a fighting spirit when donning the national jersey. “The least I expect, and Ghana expects, is a team that plays with passion and desire for the country,” he stressed.

The GFA president criticized the players for not giving their best, cautioning that complacency would not be tolerated. “It’s up to you to either give everything for Ghana or choose not to, but then you won’t be selected,” he warned.

The Black Stars face a crucial double-header against Sudan, with the first match scheduled for October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by the return leg in Libya on October 15. With qualification hopes on the line, Okraku’s message couldn’t be clearer: perform or face the consequences.
