State Funeral Honors Victims of Helicopter Crash

A solemn state funeral was held today at Black Star Square in Accra to honor the eight victims of a helicopter crash that tragically occurred on August 6, 2025. The accident took place in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, and the ceremony served as a national moment of mourning for the dedicated service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives.

The event drew a wide range of dignitaries and citizens, including President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman. Also in attendance were former presidents John Agyekum Kuffour and Nana Akufo-Addo, as well as former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The mourners included ministers, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional leaders, clergy, and grieving families.

During the service, tributes were delivered by government officials, institutional representatives, and family members. President Mahama spoke movingly of the victims, describing them as “heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.” The ceremony recognized the profound loss and honored the memory of those who perished.
