A Stanbic Bank Ghana executive is calling for tax-free corporate bonds to boost the country’s fixed income market. Kobby Bentsi-Enchill, Head of Investment Banking, made the proposal at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Ghana Fixed Income Market (GFIM). He argued that tax exemptions would stimulate corporate issuances, increase market participation, and expand investment opportunities.

Bentsi-Enchill emphasized that introducing tax-free corporate bonds would be a transformational step for Ghana’s fixed income ecosystem. The move would align with Stanbic Bank’s commitment to supporting national development and championing progressive market reforms. The proposal was made during a panel discussion on the past, present, and future of Ghana’s fixed income market.

The GFIM celebration brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and market participants to highlight the market’s growth and progress. The event showcased a decade of collaborative efforts to deepen liquidity and enhance transparency in Ghana’s capital markets. Bentsi-Enchill’s recommendation aims to further boost the market’s development.

By making corporate bonds tax-free, Ghana can potentially attract more investors and stimulate economic growth. The proposal is seen as a way to increase participation and liquidity in the fixed income market, ultimately supporting national development goals. Stanbic Bank’s commitment to this initiative underscores its role in promoting market reforms.
