The recent denial of knowledge by the Speaker of Parliament regarding the controversial Legislative Instrument (L.I.) that seeks to allow Members of Parliament (MPs) to use sirens without speed limits has sparked relief and calls for investigation among lawmakers.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, expressed his relief and support for the Speaker’s stance, stating that the L.I. has been a topic of discussion and controversy, with many lawmakers in the dark about its origins and intentions.
Ablakwa praised the Minority Leader, Dr. Ato Forson, for opposing the L.I. and expressed his total and unequivocal support for him on this matter. He also criticized the Transport Ministry for proposing such a needless L.I. instead of focusing on addressing the Boankra Scandal and the potential US$3.6 billion judgement debt.
The Speaker’s denial of knowledge on this L.I. has been welcomed by many, and Ablakwa hopes that it will lead to an investigation into the matter. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in governance and commended the Speaker for taking a stand on this issue.
As the controversy surrounding the L.I. continues to unfold, lawmakers and citizens alike are calling for a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of this matter and ensure that such controversial proposals do not slip through the cracks.
