The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has paid a solemn visit to the bereaved families of the late Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru and Hon. Dr. Alhaji Murtala Mohammed. The two lawmakers were among the eight individuals who tragically died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The Speaker’s visit was to express his heartfelt condolences and offer Parliament’s support during this difficult time.
During the deeply emotional encounter, Speaker Bagbin was accompanied by the leadership from both sides of the House, as well as management of the Parliamentary Service. He assured the families of the full support of Parliament and paid tribute to the two late statesmen. He spoke of their selfless service, humility, and patriotism, and highlighted the significant loss their passing represents to the nation.
The tragic incident, which also claimed the lives of several other prominent officials, has plunged Ghana into a period of national mourning. The Speaker’s visit is part of a wider effort by the government and various organizations to comfort the bereaved families and honor the memory of the deceased for their dedication to public service.
