About Ellis Park: Ellis Park, nestled in the Oakland community on Chicago’s South Side, holds a rich history. Named after Samuel Ellis, the park is one of the city’s oldest green spaces. Ellis, who once owned over 135 acres of South Side lakefront property, wore many hats: innkeeper, farmer, and even the local milkman! In 1855, he generously donated a wedge-shaped parcel of land between 31st and 39th Streets, stretching from Lake Michigan to what is now Martin Luther King Drive. Today, Ellis Park continues to serve as a beloved public gathering place, connecting generations of Chicagoans.

So, grab your picnic blankets and join us under the stars for an unforgettable evening of Shakespearean magic!
