The New Ghana, a self-proclaimed agent for change, has issued a stern warning to Sarkodie’s camp to apologize to actress Yvonne Nelson and the people of Krobo for their “baseless” attempts to justify the musician’s no-show at the Africa fan zone.
In a press statement, President Yahaya Alhassan condemned Sarkodie’s excuses as “comic” and demanded a retraction, threatening to take action if the apology is not forthcoming.
The controversy follows Sarkodie’s removal from a platform in France, which has been hailed as a victory for women’s advocacy in African communities striving for gender equality and respect.
The New Ghana emphasized the influence of musicians as role models and the need for their words and actions to be “decent, decorous, and in conformity with their status.”
The statement concluded with a warning to upcoming musicians and the general public, hoping that Sarkodie’s experience would serve as a learning curve.
No official response has been issued from Sarkodie’s camp at the time of publication.
