In a bid to unlock the vast potential of Ghana’s tourism sector, Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Gomashie, has unveiled her plans to revamp Mole National Park and other key historical sites. Speaking during her vetting on January 22, 2025, Gomashie emphasized the need to develop and invest in these neglected sites, drawing parallels with world-renowned wildlife parks in Kenya and Uganda.

Mole National Park, in particular, boasts an impressive array of wildlife, including animals similar to those found in East Africa. However, despite its potential, the park has been overlooked in terms of development and investment. Gomashie aims to change this narrative by collaborating with local authorities to promote tourism development at the grassroots level.
The Salaga Slave Market, located near the park, is another significant historical site that Gomashie believes deserves greater attention and investment. By working with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), she hopes to encourage local investment in tourism, creating jobs and driving economic growth in the region.
Gomashie’s vision is to transform Mole National Park and other sites into major contributors to Ghana’s tourism sector. With increased resources and collaboration with local stakeholders, she is confident that these hidden gems can be revitalized, showcasing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty to the world.
