Accra, Ghana – A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Military Cemetery, Burma Camp, on Wednesday to mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings. The solemn ceremony was attended by the former President’s children, family members, and other dignitaries, who gathered to pay their respects to the late leader.

The ceremony was officiated by Lt. Col (Rev. Father) Benjamin Kwesi Effah, and a wreath was laid on behalf of the family by Rawlings’ children. The event was a poignant reminder of the former President’s contributions to Ghana’s history and development.

Plans for a grand commemoration of the fifth anniversary had been put on hold following the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the former President, on October 23, 2025.
