President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to increasing women’s representation in his administration has been reaffirmed by Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo. In a recent interview on JoyNews, she emphasized the president’s dedication to appointing women with skills, experience, and a strong work ethic to contribute to the country’s progress.
Mahama has already made significant strides in this direction, appointing seven women as ministers out of 42 ministerial nominations. These women include Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; Emelia Arthur, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; and Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The president aims to reach 30% women’s representation in his administration, having already achieved 27%. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo assured the public that Mahama will continue to prioritize women’s appointments, stating, “John Dramani Mahama is committed to appointing women… so that together, we all reset Ghana”.
