President John Dramani Mahama attended the First Service at the Cedar Mountain Chapel of Assemblies of God in East Legon on Sunday, February 2, 2025, where he expressed his desire for God to use him as an instrument to change the fortunes of Ghana.

The President shared his career trajectory, revealing that he had initially wanted to pursue ordinary careers like being a fireman or a State Transport Company driver. However, he acknowledged that God had pushed him into politics despite his reluctance.

President Mahama commended Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, for his efforts in building the Cedar Mountain Chapel, which he likened to the parable of the mustard seed.

The President also emphasized the importance of prayer, citing the example of Daniel, who prioritized prayer despite being a busy prime minister. He announced plans to form a committee to organize a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, believing that Ghana needs more prayers to prosper.

Reverend Wengam, in his sermon, highlighted the significance of prayer, urging believers to prioritize it and make it a lifestyle. He cautioned against being part-time Christians and encouraged the congregation to love prayer and understand its power.
