In a bold move on his first day as Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointments of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) with immediate effect. This decision also extends to Assembly Members appointed under the previous administration.

According to a statement from the Office of the President, this revocation is in accordance with the powers vested in President Mahama under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and its amendments. The affected officials are expected to vacate their offices, paving the way for new appointments.
