ACCRA — President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana traveled to Abidjan to participate in the investiture ceremony of his Ivorian counterpart, President Alassane Ouattara, following Ouattara’s re-election victory. The Ghanaian President used his attendance to officially deliver hearty congratulations to President Ouattara, describing the electoral result as an emphatic endorsement by the Ivorian people. “I congratulate President Ouattara on his resounding and emphatic victory. The sovereign people of La Cote D’Ivoire have voted for continuity,” President Mahama stated, underscoring the democratic outcome.
President Mahama’s presence at the inauguration, where he joined several other regional heads of state and dignitaries, highlighted the strong diplomatic and critical economic ties between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. His participation in the event reaffirmed the importance the Ghanaian government places on successful and peaceful democratic transitions across the region.
The Ghanaian leader further stressed the necessity of continued bilateral engagement, publicly reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire. President Mahama emphasized the partnership’s crucial role in fostering regional stability and promoting shared economic prosperity across the entire Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) sub-region.
