Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama today commissioned eleven new Ambassadors and High Commissioners at a ceremony at The Presidency, bringing the total number of envoys appointed under his administration to twenty-nine. The President used the occasion to introduce a new framework of accountability for Ghana’s diplomatic missions, utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to define mandates and set benchmarks for tangible national benefit.

Among the commissioned officials are Benjamin Anani Quashie as High Commissioner to South Africa, Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh as High Commissioner to Canada, and Kwesi Ahwoi as Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia. Other appointees include Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Haruna Attah to Namibia, Kojo Choi to South Korea, and Professor Mrs Esi Awuah to the Swiss Confederation.

After the envoys took the oath of office and allegiance, President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing Ghana’s international presence. He urged the new diplomats to be “a catalyst for national renewal, service, and opportunity,” noting that their selection reflects dedicated service and state confidence. He stressed that the new KPI framework, a first in Ghana’s diplomatic practice, will ensure diplomacy delivers tangible benefits to Ghanaians, adding that the envoys have been fully briefed on the Government’s Resetting Ghana Agenda.
