President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the crucial role of peace and security in Ghana’s development, urging the National Peace Council’s Governing Board to proactively identify and address conflicts to prevent escalation. He made this call during the inauguration of a 13-member Board at the Jubilee House in Accra, with Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu as Chairman.
The Board members include prominent figures from various backgrounds, such as Rt. Rev. Dr. Hillard K.D. Dogbe, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, and Amb. Nana Effah Apenteng. President Mahama stressed that peace is not merely the absence of war but built on trust. He commended the National Peace Council for their tireless efforts in promoting peace in the country.
The President charged the new Board to discharge their duties effectively, emphasizing the importance of their role in promoting peace and security in Ghana. The Minister for the Interior, Hon Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, expressed gratitude to the President for constituting the Board and assured that the Ministry would continue to work diligently to resolve conflicts and maintain peace in the country.
The National Peace Council plays a vital role in promoting peace and security in Ghana. With President Mahama’s guidance, the Council is poised to make significant strides in conflict prevention and resolution, contributing to the country’s overall development and stability.
