President John Dramani Mahama has participated in the historic investiture of General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema as President of Gabon, held at the iconic Libreville Sports Stadium. During his two-day visit, President Mahama held a high-level meeting with President Nguema to discuss cooperation between the two nations and attended a state dinner hosted by the Gabonese President.
President Mahama’s participation in the investiture reflects Ghana’s commitment to good neighbourliness and diplomatic relations with other countries. He was accompanied by a delegation that included Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, National Security Advisor Prosper D. K. Bani, and other senior officials.
The visit underscores Ghana’s engagement with regional partners and its support for democratic transitions in Africa. President Nguema was sworn in following his landslide victory in Gabon’s April 12th, 2025, Presidential election, where he won with 90.35 per cent of the valid votes cast. He has since returned home.
