President John Dramani Mahama has announced the cessation of board memberships for various statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils. This decision, effective January 7, 2025, follows the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), which mandates the cessation of appointments made by the former President or Minister of State upon the assumption of a new President.

The change affects numerous boards, corporations, commissions, and councils, but excludes independent constitutional creations. President Mahama has assured that the affected bodies will be reconstituted in due course, in accordance with their respective enabling laws.

In a gesture of appreciation, the President thanked the outgoing members for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors. To ensure a smooth transition, the managements of these bodies have been directed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any major decisions.

This development marks a significant milestone in President Mahama’s administration, as he sets the stage for his vision for Ghana’s future growth and development.
