President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has received congratulatory messages from the envoys of the United States and the United Kingdom. The messages, delivered on behalf of the two countries, reaffirm the strong partnership between Ghana and these nations.
Mahama emphasized Ghana’s commitment to maintaining and growing its relations with the US and UK, particularly in light of the country’s current economic and financial challenges. He highlighted the energy sector as an area requiring urgent attention and expressed his hope for close collaboration to resolve the issues in this space.
This development is significant, given Ghana’s economic outlook. The country has been working to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a significant decline in economic growth ¹. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a three-year Extended Credit Facility arrangement of approximately $3 billion to support Ghana’s economic recovery.

Mahama’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s partnerships with the US and UK is crucial in addressing the country’s economic challenges. By working together, Ghana can tap into the expertise and resources of these nations to drive economic growth and development.
