Wednesday, November 20, 2024, marked a significant milestone for Ghana as the President commissioned The Bank Square, the new headquarters of the Bank of Ghana, located in the heart of Accra. This architectural masterpiece represents Ghana’s financial strength, resilience, and aspirations for a sustainable future.

The Bank Square is designed with eco-friendly technologies and cutting-edge innovations, making it a symbol of modern Ghana, prepared to meet the demands of a dynamic global economy. Ghana’s economy is on the path of recovery, with a provisional GDP growth of 6.9% in the second quarter of 2024 and a robust non-oil growth of 7.0%. The agriculture, industry, and services sectors are thriving, and inflation has been reduced from 54.1% in 2022 to 22.1% as of October 2024.

The country has also achieved a trade surplus of $2.78 billion and international reserves of $7.5 billion, providing a strong buffer against external shocks. This success is attributed to the Bank of Ghana’s commitment to sound monetary policies under Governor Ernest Addison’s leadership.

The President applauded the efforts of the Bank of Ghana’s team, as well as the creativity and expertise of the architects, engineers, and contractors, particularly GoldKey Properties, a wholly Ghanaian entity. The Bank Square serves as a foundation for a resilient economy, inclusive growth, and a brighter future for all Ghanaians.

As Ghana celebrates this achievement, the President calls on everyone to continue working together to build a stable, inclusive, and prosperous economy. The Bank Square is not just a symbol of past accomplishments but an inspiration for Ghana’s future greatness and strength.
