The Ohio District hosted the 5th Biennial Conference of the Singing Band Union in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, North America Australia Presbytery from July 19th to 21st. The event drew nearly 200 attendees from various districts within the Presbytery.
Esteemed ministers, including Rev. Dr. R. K. Awuku Gyampo (Clerk for the Presbytery), Rev. Martin Remus Ofori (CLAN Director), Rev. Emmanuel Appau Danso (Acting District Minister of Ohio), and Rev. Eric Amankwah, graced the conference.
Activities included a Bible quiz centered around the Book of Ruth and a spirited singing competition. The Chicago, New Jersey, and New England districts tied for first place in the Bible quiz with 27 points each. Notably, Christiana Osei Owusu, a lay music director, led the Chicago District’s performance brilliantly, while Patrick Agyei, another lay music director from Chicago, impressed during the optional songs.
The conference concluded with a Thanksgiving service, officially inaugurating the group after more than a decade of existence in North America. Rev. Dr. R. K. Awuku Gyampo delivered a thought-provoking message on the theme “Learn to Be Patient,” drawing from James 5:7-8 and Habakkuk 2:3. His insights emphasized patience as a divine gift, sustained by humility, and essential for eventual success.
This event showcased the musical talents within the Presbytery and fostered a sense of unity and spiritual growth among the participants.
